1. Who we are
SportBuddiez (“SBUDZ”, “we”, “us”) operates a platform for finding people, creating and joining sports activities, and managing a sports profile. Questions or privacy requests can be sent through our contact page.
2. Information we collect
- Account information, including your email address, authentication provider and account identifiers.
- Profile information you choose to provide, such as username, profile picture, bio, country and city.
- Event and community activity, including events you create or join and the information included in those listings.
- Your notification, privacy, marketing and personalisation preferences, including changes to those choices.
- Technical and security information generated when you use the service, such as device, browser, IP address and diagnostic logs handled by our infrastructure providers.
- Anonymous website analytics, including page views, referring websites, browser, operating system, device type and approximate country.
- Messages and information you send to support.
3. Analytics and cookies
We use Umami to understand general website usage and improve SBUDZ. Umami’s standard tracking does not use cookies, does not track visitors across websites and does not store personally identifiable information. Analytics data is aggregated and anonymised.
SBUDZ may still use strictly necessary storage or cookies for authentication, security and preferences. These are required for features you request and are not used for advertising.
4. How we use information
We use information to create and secure accounts, display profiles and events, enable participation, send service messages, remember preferences, provide support, prevent abuse, understand aggregate website usage and improve reliability.
Optional promotional email and personalisation are used only according to the choices available in your settings. You can change those choices at any time.
5. Legal reasons for processing
Depending on the activity and applicable law, we process information because it is needed to provide the service you requested, because we have a legitimate interest in operating, securing and understanding the performance of SBUDZ, because you gave consent, or because we must meet a legal obligation.
6. Service providers and sharing
We use service providers to operate SBUDZ, including Supabase for authentication, database and storage; Netlify for hosting; Brevo for email delivery; Airtable for website content; Umami for anonymous website analytics; and Google when you choose Google sign-in. These providers process information under their own terms and safeguards.
We do not currently sell personal information. We may disclose information when legally required, to protect people or the service, or as part of a business transfer with appropriate safeguards.
7. Retention and security
We keep information while your account is active and for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, resolve disputes, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations. Deletion from backups and provider systems may take additional time.
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, but no online service can guarantee complete security.
8. Your choices and rights
You can edit profile details and communication preferences in your account. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy, and withdraw consent. Use our contact page to make a request. We may need to verify your identity.
9. International processing
Our providers may process information in countries other than yours. Where required, appropriate contractual or legal safeguards are used for international transfers.
10. Children
SBUDZ is not designed for children below the age at which they can legally consent to online services in their country. If you believe a child has provided information without the required permission, please contact us.
11. Changes
We may update this policy as SBUDZ changes. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when a change is significant.
This policy describes the service as it works today. It should be reviewed by a qualified legal professional before a large-scale or commercial launch.
